About
Sixty-seven years on East Charleston.
Desert Art Supply opened at 2003 East Charleston Boulevard in 1958, when Las Vegas was a different city and the arts community was building itself from the ground up. Over the decades that followed, the store became the place working artists went when they needed materials and answers — not a catalog, not a website, but a counter staffed by people who knew what they were talking about.
That has not changed. The regulars are muralists sourcing Montana Gold for commissions, sign painters stocking One Shot mediums, sculpture students asking about Smooth-On ratios, custom helmet artists setting up airbrush rigs, and hobbyists switching from acrylics to oils. What unifies them is simple: they come here instead of ordering online because the knowledge is part of the product. You ask a question and you get a straight answer from someone who has used the material.
Sixty-seven years is a long time to stay open in any city. In Las Vegas, where everything else reinvents itself every decade, it means something particular. Desert Art Supply is still here because the artists who depend on it keep walking through the door.
Desert Art Supply has always been rooted in the local arts scene — not just as a supplier, but as a gathering point. Artists talk shop at the counter, share techniques, recommend each other for commissions, and pass along what they've learned.
Desert Art Supply is a proud supporter of the Las Vegas Artists Guild, reinforcing ties with the community of working artists and creative professionals across Southern Nevada.
